An Iqaluit city councillor has offered a public apology after posting a "racialized statement" on social media yesterday, according to the City of Iqaluit.
In a news release issued Thursday afternoon, the city didn't specify who the councillor was or provide details on the comments.
Mayor Kenny Bell stated that he's aware of the controversial social media post.

Council will be discussing this together at the next city council meeting and will take this opportunity to look at additional ways to educate council on racism, biases, and other social discrimination," Bell said. The municipal news release also stated that the social media post in question does not represent the views of city council.
