Iqaluit resolve standoff after call about possible armed suspect

A standoff in the 200-block area of Iqaluit was resolved peacefully on Monday morning and charges are expected to be laid, the stated.

The police called upon the V Division Critical Incident Command team after taking a complaint about an individual who may have been armed. The Mounties then surrounded a residence and closed off a portion of the city.

Crisis negotiators worked toward de-escalating the situation and the suspect eventually surrendered to police without incident.
