Lost 13-year-old Iglulik hunter found safe

Helicopters were enlisted in the search for a young Cambridge Bay man who was found safe and sound on June 12 after he went missing on the land for a few days. It was the second major search-and-rescue mission in Cambridge Bay in two weeks. The previous effort involved a Hercules, a Twin Otter and a chopper. A 13-year-old hunter from Iglulik who went missing on Tuesday night was found by his hunting party around 6 p.m on Friday evening, the stated.

The teen was safe and in good health, according to the police.

The group of nine hunters had travelled from Iglulik to Itiliq Cove in pursuit of caribou.

A Hercules aircraft from CFB Trenton, Ont., scrambled to partake in the search on Wednesday evening. A helicopter was also called upon to assist.

The Mounties offered thanks to Nunavut's Emergency Management Organization and search and rescue volunteers from Naujaat and Sanirajak.
