Qikiqtaaluk - The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is holding its three-day board meeting in Arctic Bay May 30 to June 1. Along with updates from the departments of lands and resources, major projects and social policy, the agenda includes the selection of program themes for the development of QIASA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s new key programs.
"As a result of our new revenue policy, in the next year, QIA expects to have an additional $1 million for programs across Qikiqtani," states a news release.
"The board will review findings from QIASA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s recent community consultations and decide which areas these new programs will focus on."
Eligibility criteria for a newly created scholarship, with an additional $200,000 for new post-secondary scholarships for Qikiqtani Inuit, will be approved.
A feast will be held the evening of May 30 at 7 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
