Acclaimed Fort Smith-born author wins literary award

Acclaimed Fort Smith-born author Richard Van Camp has been named the recipient of an Alberta Literary Award for Moccasin Square Gardens, a collection of short stories published last year by the Tlicho wordsmith.

Moccasin Square Gardens, named after the moniker given to a dance hall in Van CampSA国际影视传媒檚 home town, picked up the Georges Bugnet Award for Fiction.

Set in Denendeh, the book brings to life the SA国际影视传媒渟hifting and magical nature of the North,SA国际影视传媒 following a diverse cast of characters while marrying elements of comedy and drama, according to publisher Douglas & McIntyre.

Van Camp, who has written two dozen books over the course of his illustrious 23-year-career, spoke with SA国际影视传媒 earlier this year about his latest project, dubbed Wheetago War.

ItSA国际影视传媒檚 set to be released this spring.
