Thebacha/Fort Smith
Fort Smith received a report on Aug. 27 about the theft of a handgun from a residence in the community.
The police identified the firearm as a Browning Challenger handgun.
The theft occurred at a residence between Aug. 1 and Aug. 15.
"The missing handgun is of concern, as it can be a dangerous weapon," stated Marie York-Condon, the media relations official with the Northwest Territories , in an Aug. 29 news release. "We are asking the public to be alert for any possible sighting of a handgun, or if someone finds one, please report it to your for proper removal and storage."
Other items reported missing in the theft included a TV, an iPad, a laptop and collectible coins.

The Metis Cultural Institute's Heritage Days 2018 will be held in Fort Resolution on Sept. 7 and 8.
The event will feature talent shows, jigging, fiddling, drumming, community dances, stories from elders, live music and more.
Family dance set at Fort Smith arena

A Glow in the Dark Family Dance will be held on Sept. 9 in Fort Smith.
The dance is set for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Fort Smith Centennial Arena.
The event SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ to be hosted by the Town of Fort Smith SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ will feature glow sticks, bracelets and necklaces.
