Northern Alberta has a confirmed case of COVID-19, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, AlbertaSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s chief medical officer of health, said in a teleconference Monday.
The case was one of 74 Hinshaw reported throughout the province. She didn't elaborate on the specific location beyond Alberta's north health zone, which accounts for most of the province north of Edmonton.
There are currently no confirmed or presumptive cases in NWT, though the northern Alberta case will mark a closer brush with COVID-19.
On Monday, NWT health minister Diane Thom said in a statement Monday that travellers were being screened and the situation in NWT was being closely monitored.
"(GNWT) will advise the public when confirmed cases have been identified in the NWT," she said. "(It is) using every available means to communicate with residents in all official languages to provide the most current information so you know what is going on and what you need to do."
