Fort Liard Mountie charged with fraud

Two people in Fort Liard including a Mountie are charged with fraud following an investigation by Alberta .

Cpl. Curtis Ping, 59, and Darlene Ping, 56, are both charged with one count each of fraud under $5,000 and fraud over $5,000.

Cpl. Ping is also charged with breach of trust by a public officer.

Darlene Ping is also charged with falsification of records or books and falsification of employment records with intent to deceive.

None of the charges against either have been proven in court.

The NT became aware of allegations of fraud within the Liard detachment in June and asked Alberta officers to conduct an investigation.

Both individuals are scheduled to appear in court in Yellowknife Sept. 15.
