The search continued on Sept. 8 near Paulatuk for a man who was swept away by a strong current while he was crossing Hornaday River on an all terrain vehicle (ATV) on Sept. 6.
The man, who is from Paulatuk, has not been officially identified.
Cpl. Robert Frizzell, media liaison for the Northern district. stated in a release that set up a command tend in the area and was coordinating efforts with multiple agencies and community members to continue searching.
As of 4 p.m. Friday afternoon, an update was issued that search efforts have been hindered due to high winds. A helicopter was scheduled to be used in the search, but was grounded Friday morning. Fritzell stated that search efforts will resume if the weather clears this afternoon.
