In a news release on Thursday, Premier Bob McLeod praised the work Anderson did in her more-than 20 years at the GNWT, for which she twice won the PremierSA国际影视传媒檚 Award for Excellence.

Tuktoyaktuk Community Corp. chair Eddie T. Dillon congratulated Anderson, who goes by Dawn, on her appointment in a Wednesday release.

Born in Inuvik, Anderson grew up in Tuktoyaktuk, where her mother is from, before moving south after Grade 9.
She came back North after school to work with Beaufort Delta Legal Council as a court worker. She worked in Inuvik as a social worker, then in Tuktoyaktuk. While finishing a degree in child and youth care, she worked with the territorial Department of Justice in Yellowknife as the manager of probation services in the region.
She then became manager of projects and programs with community justice and policing, working on restorative and community justice in communities throughout the NWT. Here, she developed the Planning Action Responsibly Toward Non-violent Empowered Relationships (PARTNER) project, which is a co-ed program working with men and women whoSA国际影视传媒檝e been charged with domestic violence offences.
She then became assistant director of community corrections services before serving as director of community justice and policing.
SA国际影视传媒淢y final project with the Department of Justice before I left was the integrated case management pilot project that works with multiple clients across government organizations and delivery of programs and services to target multiple complex needs that they were facing.SA国际影视传媒
She then left to pursue a masterSA国际影视传媒檚 degree in Indigenous governance with the University of Victoria, for which she currently completing her defence.
