Greg was stricken with brain cancer and died shortly after, on March 3, 2024. He was buried in the family plot next to his mother in Olecko, Poland. Greg was born in Yellowknife in September of 1959. He attended St. Patrick's school from grades 1 through 12. Greg graduated from the University of Alberta in 1981 and spent a number of years teaching physics and math in rural Alberta and Saskatchewan. In the early 1990s Greg returned to Yellowknife, where his wife joined him, to teach at St. Patrick High school, alongside a teacher who taught him! Greg was a devoted teacher. He spent the last 15 years tutoring English and math in Poland. While there he travelled to many parts of Europe, was a Fantasy Baseball champion, and loved to play online poker. He said it was a good 64 years. Greg is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Cameron Hawes, his nephew Harrison and niece Hailey, and his extended family in Poland. We are devastated by the loss of our brother and uncle. Greg was much loved and is greatly missed.
