August 16, 1935 - January 24, 2025

In the early morning hours on January 24, 2025, Jozsef "Joe/Joey" Legler, 89, passed away peacefully due to natural causes at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, AB.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Esther, his children, Vilmos, Ilona (Gary), Sandor (Lynn) and Michelle (Chris), his grandchildren, Sari (Travis), Danica (Gordon), Kimberly, William, Shylee, Kenzi and Kaelan, his great grandchildren, Jagger and Jersey and his niece Teresa (Mark). Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Gyula and Ilona, his brothers, Gyula and Laszlo, his sister Ilona, his grandson, Christopher and his co-pilot, Ash.

Joe was born on August 16, 1935 in Budapest, Hungary and immigrated to Canada in 1966. He spent most of his career as a miner but his favorite job was being a "Walmart Greeter". Throughout his career he was known for his hard work, dedication and eagerness to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others.

He was a devoted family man, who loved spending time with his family. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced. In his free time, Joe enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, travelling and going to bingo.

Those who knew Joe will remember him for his infectious smile and his kind loving nature. Joe had a way with people, he had a natural ability to connect with others. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Country Hills Crematorium & Funeral Services in Calgary, AB. In keeping with Joe's wishes, there will be no visitation or service. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Peter Lougheed Hospital for their care and compassion.
