January 1, 1928 - January 3, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Mae Johnson "Mae" on January 3, 2025, at the Mission Creek Landing Retirement/Care Home in Kelowna, BC.Many thanks to all the staff there who kindly cared for her for almost five years. Mae had just turned 97 years old on January 1, 2025.
Mae is survived by her daughter Barbara (Kerry) of Kelowna, BC; her son Doug of Nanaimo, BC; and her daughter-in-law Shirley, granddaughters, Cheryl & Michelle, and two great-granddaughters, Sophia & Emma, all ofWest Kelowna, BC. She is also survived by her youngest sister, Ethel Bonnar (Don Hawkins) of Port Alberni, BC; her brother Stan Williams of Yorkton, SK; as well as many nieces & nephews. Mae came from a family of 12 children, all born & raised in the Quill Lake and Claire, SK area.
Mae was predeceased by her husband, Allan, son, Roger (who was married to Shirley) and daughter-in-law Lisa (who was married to Doug). She was also predeceased by her mother and father, Ethel & ArchieWilliams, as well as nine of her siblings.
During her married life, Mae lived in Lacombe and Edmonton, AB, as well as 16 years in Hay River, NT with Allan and family, where Allan worked as an aircraft engineer. She loved Hay River so very much. Allan, Mae, & Doug then moved to Wetaskiwin, AB in 1978, to continue in the aviation industry. After Allan's passing in May 2004, she lived on her own in Wetaskiwin until March 2017, when Barb moved Mae to Kelowna to be closer to her.
Mae will be interred beside her husband, Allan, in the Wetaskiwin Memorial Cemetery in the spring of 2025.
