June 17, 1964 - February 18, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce our beloved wife, sister, auntie and friend Nadine Lennie-Misgeld has passed away after a brave and courageous battle with cancer.
Nadine was born and grew up in Inuvik with her siblings and extended family and spent a lot of time between the bush and living in town. She met her husband, Janpeter, in Inuvik and they travelled and lived in Alberta to pursue and complete their respective educations. They then moved to Yellowknife, where Nadine had a long and rewarding career with the Federal Government.
Nadine was a memory keeper, truth teller, beloved auntie and a strong advocate for education and Indigenous rights. Nadine touched many hearts throughout her life with her kindness, strong love and wisdom, leaving a profound impact on her family, friends and colleagues that will not be forgotten. She loved her family so very much, holding a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews. Nadine was dearly loved and will continue to be in our memory.
Nadine is survived by her husband Janpeter, brothers Hans, Johnny and Henry and her sisterAnita. Nadine was predeceased by her parents Edward and Jennie, brothers Noel, Peter, Dennie and Norman.
Memorial service will be held at the Midnight Sun Recreation Complex on March 15 at 2pm. (Inuvik)
Celebration of life will be held at the Elks Hall in Yellowknife on April 5th at 4pm.
