Richard Guy passed away peacefully in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, at 9:20 am local time on July 13th. Richard was a friend to everyone who knew him, and his legacy lives on in the many stories he shared over drinks throughout his long life, as well as his lifetime of work writing fiction and nonfiction.
As he wrote in his memoir Short Stories of My Life: "I wanted to know what lay ahead and to experience the true rewards of reaching the top of what I had set out to attain SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½” and I attained much."
Richard is survived by his children, Wayne, Michele, John-Peter, and Jason, and grandchildren Aysia, Sarah, Grace, Théa, Olivia, and Jonathan.
The Guy family invites you to commemorate the life of Richard Guy, July 21, 1932 - July 13, 2024.
Richard's funeral service will take place this Friday, August 2nd, in Yellowknife at 1:00 pm local time at St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral (5206-52 Street).
Richard's funeral will be followed by a reception at the Yellowknife Historical Museum (by the Giant Mine site) that will start at 2:30 pm local time.
