November 29, 1957 - March 28, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Wayne Chirpilo announce his passing at the age of 66 years.
Wayne leaves behind his sons, Trevor and Travis; sister, Angie; niece, Charlotte; grandnieces, Raquel and Chelsea. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Sylvia Chirpilo; daughter, Sylvia Lockhart; former spouse, Kathy Weselowski; and brother-in-law, Victor Chudy.
Wayne was raised in Saskatoon and attended Estey School and Mount Royal Collegiate. He worked for 7-Up Bottling Co. before he went to become a High Pressure Welder after moving to Hay River, NWT. There Wayne worked for NTCL, Northern Arc, Borstad Welding and Kingland Ford. Wayne also volunteered his time coaching hockey and served as President of the Minor Hockey Association of Hay River. Many hours spent with his children's activities, including hockey, figure skating, bowling and swimming.
Wayne had three heart surgeries then suffered a stroke eventually developing dementia. The family would like to thank his friends, James Smyth of Hay River, Gerry Erker of High River, AB. and Jason Bloom-Strand of Hay River for visiting him in Saskatoon in the past couple years. Also, the family would like to thank the coffee crew and all of the other people of Hay River that helped in his moving back to Saskatoon. Thanks to Dr Reem Adbuhadi, Dr. Cenkowski and Dr. Graham; Dr. Gupta, Dr. Bud and Medical team at St. Paul's Hospital. Thanks to all the staff at Saskatoon Shines Care Home and Central Haven Care Home for their dedication and understanding. Wayne liked to visit people wherever he was. He will be missed.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Alzheimers Society of Canada. The Funeral Service will be held at Westwood Funeral Chapel (1402-20th St. W, Saskatoon, SK.) on Friday, April 5 at 4:00 p.m. Interment will take place on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, for those that wish to attend please meet at the gates at 2:45 p.m.
