Yellowknife Ski Races draw close to 200 competitors at Yellowknife Ski Club

The Yellowknife Ski Club played host to the annual Yellowknife Ski Races this past weekend with close to 200 competitors lining up to compete.

Each of the two days of action had a different style to it: Saturday saw the interval start races for all ages, where each skier started in 30-second increments, while Sunday featured the mass start races with everyone taking off from the start at the same time. On both days, the races were divided by age group and by length with the youngest racers doing 100 metres up to the oldest skiers, who competed on a 6 km course.

As is the custom, all of the skiers received a cookie medal when they finished their race with the option to go to a decoration station to dress them up.
