The organizers for the 18th edition of the Old Town Ramble and Ride festival said they had a fantastic weekend for the event.

During a time with a few major events going on the city, including Rib Fest at the Fieldhouse, Jo-Ann Martin, who was part of the organizing team, said there was an opportunity for everyone to enjoy themselves.

"We're trying to get in as many events as we can," said Martin, noting how short a summer Yellowknife has.

Everything began on Aug. 2 with the kick-off concert at Down To Earth Gallery and headlined by Sechile Sedare, better known as the sibling duo of Leela and Jay Gilday. The following day featured a bike parade, walking tours and all sorts of arts and crafts at businesses in Old Town. There was also plenty of music at various locations all afternoon long.

The final day on Aug. 4 saw the Transformation art show with Robyn Scott winning the top prize for the best piece as voted on by guests. There was plenty more music to keep people entertained and activities for young and not-so-young.

Martin said she wasn't exactly sure how the weekend would turn out, which she said is usual, but was grateful for some good weather and a very lively crowd. 

She also admitted she did go to Rib Fest, calling it fantastic and saying there is definitely room for both events to happen at the same time.

The organizers are getting together this evening for a debrief of this year's event and what they might plan for next year.
