Body of missing boater recovered from Great Slave Lake

The body of a missing boater has been recovered from Great Slave Lake.

The deceased man, who was reported missing Thursday morning after failing to check in with family members, was located near the Wool Bay area on the same day following a search led by , Civil Air Search and Rescue Association and Dettah residents, Mounties said Friday.

The search, focusing on the northwestern shore of Great Slave Lake, between Dettah and  Wool Bay, ended after a boater spotted a capsized watercraft. The same boater later located the deceased man's body.

Due to rapidly shifting ice in the area, attended the site via helicopter, according to Friday's news release.

The man's body was transported to Dettah. The territory's chief coroner and are investigating the death. A post-mortem examination has been ordered.
