The City of Yellowknife will be moving ahead with its annual community clean-up, according to a
which provides an opportunity for residents to pick up garbage and clean up the city every year after the winter snow melt will take place from May 17 to 23.
Although this year has physical distancing measures in place from the Chief Public Health Officer due to the coronavirus pandemic, the city is still able to move ahead with the annual event.
"All necessary measures are being taken by the City to ensure this event adheres to the current NWT Public Health Order," states the news release. "Each assigned area will allow for physical distancing of 6 feet by all participants, with groups of 10 volunteers or less assigned to each area."
Mayor Rebecca Alty said in a statement that the event is important every year to keep the city clean. Community groups involve also get "necessary funding" for participating.

Interested groups are asked to apply before Thursday, April 30 at 5 p.m. The application form can be
