Garage fire on Byrne Road closes traffic

Brendan Burke/NNSL photo. Emergency crews responded to a garage fire at 402 Byrne Rd. around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, as thick smoke billowed from behind the residence. A report of the possible presence of propane tanks in the garage prompted on-scene MED officers to close traffic between Bromely Street and Wolgar Avenue. Most of the blaze was quelled by 5 p.m. The cause of the fire is not yet determined. April 10, 2018.

Emergency crews responded to a garage fire at 402 Byrne Rd. around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The area was cordoned off by the Yellowknife Fire Division as firefighters fought the blaze. Thick smoke billowed from behind the residence.

A report of a possible presence of propane tanks in the garage prompted on-scene MED officers to close traffic between Bromley Street and Woolgar Avenue.

Most of the blaze was quelled by 5 p.m. The cause of the fire is not yet determined.
