Hay River specify charges following alleged hit and run

Following an alleged hit and run, a Hay River man stands accused of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.

Following an alleged hit and run in Hay River on July 8, a 38-year-old Hay River man has been charged with multiple offences.

The individual in question is accused of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.

According to the , the man has been released and is scheduled to appear in Hay River Territorial Court on Aug. 26.

"Investigation into this matter remains ongoing. Police are asking anyone who may have video footage, photos or information about this incident to contact the Hay River ."

The accused was not publicly identified. According to , naming an accused person who has been charged will be done under the following circumstances:

-when people are charged with drug trafficking and related offences

-when people are charged in connection with organized crime and any violent offences that stems from this activity, particularly when there are weapons involved

-acts of violence that pose risks to the public
