Inaugural mineral industry awards in Yellowknife next week

The first-ever MAX Awards will recognize excellence in Northwest Territories mining and exploration on Thursday Nov. 16.

The NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines-hosted gala will hand out awards to worthy recipients who have made contributions to "finding and developing resources, engaging with the public and government, ensuring Indigenous participation, creating jobs and business benefits and training northerners," according to a release.   

The event, which coincides with the Chamber of Mines' 50th anniversary and the 45th annual Geoscience Forum, will recognize the following standouts:

Distinguished Service SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ Aurora Geosciences
Economic Leadership SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ Ekati Diamond Mine and Diavik Diamond Mine
Environmental & Social Responsibility SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ Diavik Diamond Mine and TerraX Minerals
Indigenous Achievement Awards SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ Joe Rabesca and Darrell Beaulieu
Special Achievement Awards SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ Mine Training Society and Altaf Lakhani
