A Yellowknife man who led police on a high-speed pursuit through Ndilo has been sentenced to 60 days in jail.
Darrick Beaulieu, 37, apologized in territorial court Monday for what Judge Garth Malakoe called a SA国际影视传媒渢otal disregardSA国际影视传媒 for public safety.
On Aug. 12, a Yellowknife Mountie attempted to pull over Beaulieau SA国际影视传媒 whom the officer believed to be prohibited from driving SA国际影视传媒 before the offender sped away. pursued Beaulieau SA国际影视传媒 who drove at a high speed back to Latham Island, passing a playground SA国际影视传媒 before calling off the chase for the sake of public safety.
Mounties later spotted Beaulieu at a Ndilo residence, but he evaded police following a short foot chase. He was located and arrested two days later. The incident marked the second time Beaulieu evaded police. In December 2017, he fled on foot after being pulled over for impaired driving.
He pleaded guilty to fleeing lawful custody and refusing to provide a breath sample. For the August police chase, Beaulieu pleaded guilty to evading police.
For the two incidents, Malakoe, who said Beaulieu's actions threatened the people of Yellowknife and Ndilo, sentenced him to a 60-day intermittent sentence SA国际影视传媒 served on weekends SA国际影视传媒 and a two-year driving ban.
