The condition of the Northwest Territories' only patient hospitalized due to coronavirus is not being released at this time for privacy reasons, according to a spokesperson with the Department of Health and Social Services (HSS).
The patient, one of two announced last Thursday night, had reportedly been "travelling in Canada" before returning to their home community, Fort Resolution, on March 22. The person developed symptoms four days later and by Friday was in Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife in good condition, according to Premier Caroline Cochrane.
HSS did not reveal the patient's home community as per its policy on not disclosing the name of small communities with cases of COVID-19 in them but the location came to light the following day after Deninu Kue Chief Louis Balsillie expressed frustration with the non-disclosure the following day.
There has been no word on the patient's condition since that time.
"We wonSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™t reveal further information once someone is hospitalized for patient privacy reasons," said HSS spokesperson Mike Westwick.
