The Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories will resume proceedings in order to remove Great Slave MLA Katrina Nokleby from cabinet.

A press release from the legislative assembly indicates Speaker Frederick Blake Jr. believes that "the public interest requires" that MLAs sit Monday afternoon, but didn't elaborate.

Yellowknife Centre MLA Julie Green, however, said in a post on Facebook that the House was resuming "to revoke the appointment of the member for Great Slave to the Executive Council."

She said a committee meeting to select a replacement would follow.

The session will begin at 1:30 p.m.

At the end of the last session in June, the assembly was adjourned until Oct. 15.
