Registration for the 2019 Frostbite 50 is officially open.

The event that sees skiers and snowshoers take on 50 kilometres of ungroomed trail around the outskirts of Yellowknife will take place on March 16. The event was credited with being one of the, SA国际影视传媒渃oldest runs in Canada,SA国际影视传媒� by Canadian Running Magazine.

Each year the Frostbite 50 is organized and run by the Yellowknife Multisport Club. Participants can join as solo entries or in teams of up to five.

Anytime Fitness delays opening

Yellowknifers will have to wait a little longer to lift weights at 2 a.m.

Citing issues with getting the right permits in place, Anytime Fitness, says their grand opening will now be closer to the new year in a Facebook post. The 24-hour gym was originally set to open in early December.

The gym, located in Center Ice Plaza, will be offering discounted memberships at a pre-sale event on Saturday Dec. 8.

Registration for Walk to Tuk 2019 opens

Registration for the annual Walk to Tuk event has opened.

The event will take from Jan. 2 to Feb. 28. Over the nearly two month period, teams of up to 20 people will collectively walk 1,658 kilometres, which is the length of the Mackenzie River from Fort Providence to Tuktoyaktuk.

Each hour that a team walks will count towards a certain number of kilometres.

Other types of physical activity can be included in a teamSA国际影视传媒檚 total as well. Teams can register on the NWT Parks and Recreation AssociationSA国际影视传媒檚 website.

Basketball team heads to Grande Prairie

The junior menSA国际影视传媒檚 and womenSA国际影视传媒檚 high performance basketball teams are headed to the Senior High Basketball Classic in Grande Prairie this weekend.

The weekend event hosted by Grande Prairie Regional College will be the first tournament of the high performance basketball season.

The teams will be playing against some of the top basketball players from across Northern Alberta.
