Two Yk men face drug charges after over 100 grams of cocaine seized:

Two Yellowknife men face drug trafficking charges after say they seized over 100 grams of cocaine and other drugs at a city apartment.

After launching a"short term" investigation targeting suspected drug trafficking "involving an apartment building," in the city, executed a search warrant at the apartment on Tuesday, according to a news release issued Thursday afternoon.

Inside, Mounties say they located and seized around 110 grams of "what is believed to be cocaine," and around 168 grams of what police suspect to be hashish, states the news release.

The drug probe and bust led to arrests for five people. Two have been charged.

David Payne, 64, of Yellowknife, is charged with possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possessing property obtained by crime and breach of probation.

Malcolm Glen Anderson, 49, of Yellowknife and British Columbia, is charged with possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possessing property obtained by crime.

Police are thanking Yellowknife residents following the drug bust.

" thanks the public for reporting unusual activity within a residential building in Yellowknife, allowing us to enter into an investigation and ultimately removing the illicit drugs from the market and holding those involved in the illegal activity accountable," states Dean Riou, Officer in Charge, Federal Investigations Unit, NWT .

did not say which apartment building yielded the suspected drugs.

It's unclear at this time when the pair are due in court.
