Dozens of Yellowknifers marked Philippines Independence Day Friday evening by hitting the road for a procession filled with honks and cheers.

Participants, decorating their vehicles with red, white, blue and yellow balloons SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½” the Philippines' flag colours SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½” made their way from City Hall through the downtown and up towards the Kam Lake area before meeting up again at the Fieldhouse.
The procession kicked off after a 5:30 flag-raising ceremony at City Hall, according to a Facebook post from the city.
City bylaw officers escorted vehicles across town.
This year's annual June 12 celebration marks 122 years since the Philippines declared independence from Spain.
