Yellowknife man killed in snowmobile accident

A 46-year-old Yellowknife man is dead following a weekend snowmobile crash northeast of Yellowknife, say .

The man, whose name has not been released, was ejected from his sled on Saturday night after striking a snow-covered rock while travelling near Reid Lake, about 65 km northeast of the city, according to a news release issued by Mounties Monday morning.

The snowmobile struck a snow covered rock and the victim, the sole occupant on the sled, was ejected. Another snowmobiler came across the crash and contacted , while providing first aid, stated police.

Yellowknife are working alongside the NWT Coroners Service to investigate the death.
