Ed Lippert will take over as the new superintendent of Yellowknife Education District No. 1 (Yk 1) on Sept. 1, 2020, as the district's board of trustees announced in a press release on Thursday morning.
He will replace the long-serving superintendent Metro Huculak, who will retire at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
"While it will be hard to say goodbye to Mr. Huculak, the board of trustees is confident that Mr. LippertSA国际影视传媒檚 passion for student success, his belief in innovation and improved accountability, and his desire to seek creative solutions and partnerships will serve Yk 1 well this upcoming year," the board said.

"Mr. Lippert has been involved in education for more than 30 years in various roles, spending time as a classroom teacher in Inuvik and Yellowknife before becoming a department head, assistant principal and principal at Sir John Franklin High School. He transitioned to his current role of assistant superintendent in 2015."
LippertSA国际影视传媒檚 term as superintendent will be for one year.
Huculak served as superintendent of the school district for more than 14 years.
