The Government of Nunavut and the federal government have jointly signed an agreement that will provide the territorial government with federal funding for French and Inuktut language services totalling $34.3 million from 2024-25 to 2027-28.

Under the four-year agreement, $20.4 million of the total is to support Inuktut language initiatives, while $13.9 million will go towards supporting French language services.

This funding will be added to the GNSA国际影视传媒檚 current $11.3 million annual investment in the Inuit Language Implementation Fund, which begins in 2025-2026.

"Multi-year funding under the new agreement will play a vital role in ensuring the stability, support and delivery of services for Nunavut in all official languages," stated the March 24 GN news release.
