For kids in isolation during Halloween, it was no ordinary night.

What could have been a dull, uneventful evening, turned into a pretty sweet deal, especially for 10-year-old Kane Sanderson.

SA国际影视传媒淪o, I have a son who was in Grade 5, and we were notified on Wednesday we had to pick him up,SA国际影视传媒� said Renee Sanderson, founder of the Pay It Forward NWT Facebook group. SA国际影视传媒淪omeone in his class had an exposure or had Covid, and we had to pick him up.

SA国际影视传媒淪o we did and then that evening, weSA国际影视传媒檙e discussing like, SA国际影视传媒楿h oh, how do we tell our son that he canSA国际影视传媒檛 go trick or treating?SA国际影视传媒� This can be tricky. HeSA国际影视传媒檚 autistic as well,SA国际影视传媒� she continued. SA国际影视传媒淪o I kind of got discussing with my husband, trying to come up with ideas, and I was like, SA国际影视传媒榃ait a minute, why donSA国际影视传媒檛 we bring Halloween to him and to the rest of his class?SA国际影视传媒橲A国际影视传媒�

This idea became known as reverse trick SA国际影视传媒榬 treating, where those in isolation SA国际影视传媒� primarily from N.J. Macpherson School SA国际影视传媒� would receive a special visit on All HallowSA国际影视传媒檚 Eve.

SA国际影视传媒淪o I went onto (the) Pay It Forward Facebook page and, yeah, just set this thing up,SA国际影视传媒� said Sanderson. SA国际影视传媒淟ike whoeverSA国际影视传媒檚 interested, we can get the addresses of all the kids affected. We can do it on Sunday, between 2 (p.m.) and 4 (p.m.). TheySA国际影视传媒檒l put a basket out on their yard, we can drive around to these addresses (and) drop off candy to them.

SA国际影视传媒淎t the same time, the kids could still dress up and wave from their yard or their window,SA国际影视传媒� she explained, SA国际影视传媒渟o at least theySA国际影视传媒檙e still able to participate.SA国际影视传媒�

The idea went ahead from there, with many people jumping on board.

SA国际影视传媒淭he donations were outrageous and crazy,SA国际影视传媒� said Sanderson. SA国际影视传媒淪o awesome.SA国际影视传媒�

Some provided candy donations while others offered money to purchase treats.

SA国际影视传媒淭he (money) donations that I got were about $600,SA国际影视传媒� said Sanderson. SA国际影视传媒淎nd SA国际影视传媒� like a whole one of those those cloth shopping bags full of candy.

SA国际影视传媒淪o that that was just from Pay It Forward,SA国际影视传媒� she continued. SA国际影视传媒淭hen thereSA国际影视传媒檚 other local people from Yellowknife that went out and did their own deliveries as well.SA国际影视传媒�

All in all, Sanderson was blown away by the kindness on display.

SA国际影视传媒淭he participation from all of Yellowknife was just amazing,SA国际影视传媒� she said. SA国际影视传媒淢y son (also) got a ton of candy. More than he would have got if he went out on his own. It was a huge success.SA国际影视传媒�
