Members of the Union of Northern Workers Local 13 will gather in Fort Simpson Oct. 16.

The meeting, set to take place at the Nahanni Inn, is the organizationSA国际影视传媒檚 annual general meeting and full executive election.

Things kick off at 5:30 p.m.

Attendees will have a chance to win a iPad mini in a draw, plus play bingo, stated a bulletin advertising the meeting on social media.

The Union of Northern Workers is made up of 23 locals, broken up by community, department, or bargaining unit.

Local 13 represents all GNWT employees in Fort Simpson, Fort Liard, Jean Marie River, Nahanni Butte, Wrigley and Trout Lake.

It also includes employees at Fort Simpson Housing, Village of Fort Simpson, Fort Simpson Marine Workers and school board employees.

A popular annual event in Fort Simpson is now accepting registrations.

The John Tsetso Memorial LibrarySA国际影视传媒檚 Annual Christmas Bazaar is scheduled for Nov. 17.

SA国际影视传媒淏ook early to get the table location you want!SA国际影视传媒� stated a bulletin advertising registrations.

Each year, community members shuffle to the school and peruse wares and goodies from local vendors.

The event will be held at Thomas Simpson Secondary School gymnasium and is open for the public to browse and buy between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

To book a spot, community members are asked to call the library between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The cost is $20 a table.

The day of, vendors will have an hour to set up.

Health and wellness celebrated

A recent healthy-living fair in Fort Liard promised fun and prizes.

The Fort Liard Community Healthy Living Fair was scheduled to take place on Oct. 3 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Co-organized by Acho Dene Koe First Nation and the Government of the Northwest Territories, the fair was aimed at healthy living.

At the fair, healthy soup and bannock was advertised as being available between 11:30 and 2:30 p.m.

There were many prizes on hand to be won.

Those included a Coleman cooler, walking poles, camp dishes and cutlery, helmets, fishnet, lifejackets, snares, a sleeping bag, tarps, a Fort McPherson Canvas tent and more, according to the bulletin.

New superintendent for education authority

The Deh Cho Divisional Education Council has a new superintendent as of this school year.

Philippe Brulot has a long history in the North, most recently serving as principal of Chief Albert Wright School in Tulita.

Previously, he served as superintendent/CEO of Yellowknife-based Commission Scholaire Francophone.

Community invited for Thanksgiving feast

Community members in Deline were in for a Thanksgiving treat on Oct. 7.

Deline GotSA国际影视传媒檌ne Government hosted an afternoon turkey lunch at the cultural centre.

The lunch was scheduled to take place after church on Thanksgiving Sunday.
