A boil water advisory has been issued in Deline by the Chief Environmental Officer for the NWT.
A public health advisory was issued Wednesday afternoon by the Office of the Chief Public Health Officer stating that the advisory was precautionary and issued due to muddy water in the community."There have been no illnesses associated with drinking water reported in the community," stated the advisory.
All residents of the community are now being advised to boil their water for one minute before drinking it.
"All water used for drinking, preparing food, hot and cold beverages and ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables, and dental hygiene must be boiled," states the advisory.
The advisory also notes that bottled water that has been distilled, or undergone reverse osmosis are safe alternatives to boiling water. Using a Brita water filter is not considered a safe alternative.
