Man seriously injured in Inuvik; major crimes unit investigating 'aggravated assault'

The 's major crimes has launched an investigation after a man was found seriously injured over the weekend in Inuvik.

After responding to a report of an injured male "lying on Bonnetplume Road" just after 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 21, police located the man.

He was transported to the Inuvik Regional Hospital before being medevaced to Edmonton, where he received further treatment for "serious injuries," according to a news release issued by Mounties Tuesday afternoon.

Police didn't specify the circumstances in which the man was found, but in the heading of the news release, they say the injuries stemmed from an alleged "aggravated assault."

Inuvik , along with the major crimes unit and the 's forensic identification unit, are investigating the incident, and they're are turning to the public for help.
