An "around the clock" effort by law enforcement and community volunteers to find a Norman Wells man is continuing nearly a week after the 20-year-old was reported missing.
Darren Whiteman was last seen on Tuesday, Sept. 12 around 11 p.m. at a cabin on Lennie Lake, stated an news release stated last week.
Police describe Whiteman as Indigenous, 179 cm/5SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™9SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½³ in height, weighing 55 kg/120 lbs, with brown eyes, black hair and a slender build.
The missing person report prompted an exhaustive search effort led by and community members. With the help of Sahtu Helicopters and Norman Wells Ground Search and Rescue Unit, an air, ground and water search was initiated.
"A multitude of resources have been engaged to assist with the search, including Police Dog Services, as well as air and marine components. Local SAR volunteers have been working around the clock and have reached out to surrounding communities to assist with further search efforts," stated an update from issued Monday afternoon.
