Medical emergency at Remembrance Day ceremony

An ambulance was called to St. Patrick High School during th Remembrance Day ceremony following a medical emergency. (November 11, 2017)

A Yellowknife man is stable in hospital following a medical emergency.

The episode occurred Saturday morning during the Remembrance Day observation at St. Patrick High School.

Don Asher, second vice-president of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164, was seated in the right-middle section alongside military members. He was about to present the legion's wreath before he collapsed. Asher was then promptly rushed to the hospital.

The Canadian Ranger Patrol Group chaplain, Captain Andrea Harrison later confirmed Asher's identity.

Following the ceremony a member of the the legion confirmed Asher was in fact stable and awaiting tests for further diagnosis.
