Overdue travellers in the MacKay Lake area are safe and sound following a search and rescue effort, say .
On Tuesday evening, Yellowknife announced that a group of travellers had been lost near the Mackay Lake area, which is about 250 km northeast of Yellowknife.
A search and rescue operation was launched in an effort to locate "one or more parties" believed to be near the lake. A helicopter was also used to help in the search.
The travellers were located "without harm," according to a news release issued by Mounties Wednesday morning.
