Tickets, warnings handed out during traffic blitz

Tickets and warnings were handed out to Fort Providence drivers during a joint safety blitz from and government agencies.

Fort Providence and NWT Traffic Services teamed up with the GNWT Department of Infrastructure and Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) on Oct. 20, stopping and checking 114 vehicles between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m., stated a news release from last week.

Five tickets and eight warnings were issued to drivers for speeding, failing to produce registration, failing to provide insurance and failing to carry registration.

Inspections on commercial vehicles yielded six tickets.

The remind residents to report suspected impaired driving to their local detachment.
