On the tail of debuting its downtown pop-up location, Habitat for Humanity NWT has opened their seasonal ReStore YKEA location Wednesday.
All the store's goods are made by donation and sold at a discounted price to support the organization's efforts to provide affordable housing. If dropping an item off, it should be in new or nearly new condition. Acceptable items include furniture, home decor, tools and hardware.
Locasl should participate "for the pleasure of finding things that can be reused and re-purposed, for getting a good deal, for helping others, (and) reducing waste and landfill," ReStore manager Tamlin Gilbert said.
Located next to the Yellowknife dump, the store aims to operate into September and currently operates on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The store is also looking for volunteers and to fill a summer student position. Anyone interested is encouraged to email restore@habitatnwt.ca
