Northwestel aims to introduce permanent internet usage increases for NWT residents in July, with pandemic-related data relief measures will continue until June 30.
The telecommunications company has extended internet data overage waivers each month since March for Northerners staying at home due to school and workplace closures.

Northwestel spokesperson Andrew Anderson said in an email to SA国际影视传媒 on Tuesday that it had submitted applications to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to increase the usage allowance for its "most popular regulated internet packages."
There are also plans for increases to non-regulated internet packages.
"If this plan is approved, 99 per cent of residential internet customers will see a permanent increase in their monthly usage allowance SA国际影视传媒� at no extra cost to them," Anderson said.
The plans would be implemented in every community of the NWT, including satellite communities "while respecting the capacity constraints of local network technologies."
The applications are still pending approval by the CRTC.
Anderson said more details on the plans would be provided once the applications to the CRTC were approved.
